Description

Maris Otter is British winter barley, and the only winter barley approved for use by the Brewer's Institute. It is considered by many to be the best Pale Ale malt available. Maris Otter is still floor-malted, a labor intensive process in which the barley is turned by hand on large floors. This malt may be used for up to 100% of mash grains.

Good base malt

Very good conversion but did not reach the desired S.G. Need to adjust grain bill.

Great, but...

This is a wonderful base malt, but the milling I got on my last order wasn't complete and I had to re--mill. Perhaps Maris Otter berries are a little smaller than, say, American 2-row? But Austin has rarely disappointed me, and when I phoned them and reported the issue they said they'd certainly check into it. And I think they will. This would have been a 5-star review if it weren't for the incomplete milling.
