I, too, have not tried the real Stone IPA, but I was told it is quite similar to that excellent Two-Hearted Ale from Bells Brewing in Kalamazoo. The AHS recipe is excellent, and the outcome was great. Next time, I will fine some to clarify, but the hoppy aroma is very much like the Bells, and the overall taste is really excellent. It's been a decade since I last brewed (moved to winemaking), but this AHS recipe has me hooked on brewing (again). Tim in MO

I fell in love with Stone IPA when I lived in SoCal, so I had to try this one. I can't figure out how close to the original this kit turned out, but this may be the finest homebrew I've ever had the honor of making and pleasure of tasting! Absolutely killer after 3 weeks in bottle and it just gets better. Dare I say it is SO good that you may not want to share with anyone except those that will really, really appreciate it. Well-balanced hop aroma and flavor with malty-goodness backbone, pleasantly bitter. A crisp and very refreshing quaff! I HIGHLY recommend this one! Simply put, it is LIQUID GOLD!

It has only been two weeks since I bottled and it is a great beer! I am very happy with it. Great hop aroma and flavor but there is enough malt to counter-balance. I can't wait to share with friends! Will brew this one again!

Definitely a great beer. Not just a good beer but a great beer. I did the all-grain and added the alcohol booster because I read one of the BYO magazines where a Stone brewer said that higher alcohol beers made the hops really pop. This will always be on one of my 6 taps.

This recipe came out PERFECT. This was only my third all-grain batch and fifth total brew, but it was a homerun. Maybe beginner's luck, but visually the color, head, lacing all looked identical to the original in a side-by-side comparison. And the taste, aroma and bitterness was mistaken for the original in several tests. Will absolutely brew again. Could not be happier.

Just tasted my first bottle from a 5 gallon batch (no alcohol boost, white labs yeast), after only 3 weeks, and damn, this is an awesome beer! After about 10 all-grain batches, this is definitely my biggest success. Tastes almost perfect. Will be doing a side-by-side comparison soon. My only regret was not using something to clarify the beer, so it has that trademark homebrew-haze. Of course, that has no impact on taste. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CLONE!!!

I did the extract with three weeks in primary and straight to bottle. Gravities were spot on. The head to head comparison is getting closer with time. I will surely do this one again.
