Great Kit
I have brewed this kit for Stella lovers and they have let me know that it is better than the Stella they buy from the store. Most think this must be how it tastes right out the the Stella brewery.

Ok but...
This kit is a good beer but has zero resemblance to Stella. Very disappointed. Most Austin kits are pretty dependable for great beer. In 3 years there are 2 that were not even in the ball game, this and Hoegaarden.

This was my sixth brew since we started a few months ago. We've had it on the keg for two or three weeks and it is very good. All our friends like it too. It has a very nice flavor and is much better than the original you can pick up in the store. We will make this one again.

I just got this kit tonight. I can't wait.....well..actually I will have to. It looks like this is a two plus month brew with fermentation, secondary and kegging.

The flavor and color of this kit was dead on the money. We have several friends that are Stella drinkers. This kit came out so good that after serving it during the holidays to said friends, they have all sworn we have ruined the "real" Stella for them because this was better.

My wife loves Stella, I think it's ok. Loved this recipe though, as did everyone that tried it. I found the longer time in the bottle (5 + weeks), the better. It's just hard to keep it around.

Follow-up comment waited another 4 weeks in the secondary, final gravity reading was 1.012 didn't make it to the projected 1.008. Bottled and used Mini-kegs for the recipe two mini-kegs and 22 12 ounce bottles will let it card at room temp for a bit...(house is at a comfortable 68 degrees so an upstairs closet may be in order then back to the garage. The tastes I took of the pulled samples tells me this has a ton of potential. I don't know if I will try a lager again it's a ton of work....for ales I can maintain 68-70 degrees no problem and can go down to 66 if necessary..will see how this turns out in another 4-6 weeks to go with a final verdict on doing another lager...

Purchased the Mini-Mash version of this kit used Wyeast Czech Pilsner yeast. Used Whirlfloc tab for the first time in a brew as the wort cooled the cloudy puffy layer formed.....seemed as if a ton of sediment made it into the primary fermentor. 14 days in primary O.G. was in the 1.046-1.048 range.....reading after 14 days 1.014 moved to secondary give it a couple more weeks in the 50-52 range before taking to the 40's see if I can get closer to the 1.008 that the instructions say F.G. should be.....Used 2 gallons of distilled water 2 gallons of spring water and ice made from spring water in the boil/topoff for fermentor. The 14 day sample tasted great even though it was flat...had a wonderful aroma that will mellow out and should really bring out the taste.....Doing a lager like this is a ton of work but it does appear the final product will be worth it. Will keg half the recipe in my 5 liter mini-kegs, and the other half will head for the bottle should get two kegs and one case of bottles (12 ounces)....
