The required lemon zest is not included with this kit because it must be cut fresh from lemons just before it is added to the brew.

Made the extract version. Better with age. After about 5 weeks in bottles was amazing! May be my favorite of all that I have brewed. Be patient with this one.

WOW! This is the most dead-on clone kit that I've tried to date. This is a popular beer amongst my buddies, so I bottled 12 of them in SA Summer Ale bottles. Out of the 3 of them, non could tell the difference between mine and the original. The best part is that after 2 weeks in primary and a week in bottles, this sucker is ready for drinking and it tastes great. Thanks again, Forrest!

I made the partial mash version with Wyeast American Ale II. I used the zest from five lemons, dried and then ground fine. Added half the zest with two minutes left of the boil, then the rest at secondary fermentation. The beer is slightly darker than the real thing, but nice and clear. The lemon flavor is great. I think the real SSA has a slightly maltier taste than this version, but the beer is still great! I will definitely make this again!

I did the extract version. It was ok, but I would've used white labs kolsch and not the recipe version. The sams is more a kolsch with a lemony finish, not an ale as it claims to be.

Brewed the extract version. Did a side by side comparison and the homemade version is darker than the Sam Summer. Looks more like a hefeweizen (cloudy) and the Sam looks more filtered. While it tastes great, it has a different taste compared to the Sam Summer. Definitley a good summer brew. I am glad it is not a dead on clone as it adds some uniqueness to the brew.

Solid beer. Needs about a month in the bottle for the flavors to come together. Would add more zest next time.

I did the all-grain version of this with the Wyeast. This turned out fantastic! I have not done a side-by-side comparison to SA but I do not recall enjoying the Sam Adams as much as I am enjoying this one. I used 2 tbls of lemon zest at 15 min but I may do 3 tbls next time. This was ready to drink 3 weeks after brewing. I wil be doing another batch soon as these will not last long!!

This is a great clone!! Sam Summer Ale is one of my favorite beers and honestly this one tastes dead on if not better, I added a little more lemon zest. I have brewed this twice and this will be one of my staple brews.

Just made this for my first brew. It came out fantastic. The wlp400 yeast worked great. I think it tastes better than the real deal. I recomend this recipe. I brewed the extract version.
