Lovingly known as “Italy’s green heart”, Umbria is a fertile agricultural area tucked away in the center of the country, the only land locked region on the peninsula. The Appenine Mountains cut through Umbria raising rolling hills which allow for ideal sun exposure. Terraces cut into the hillsides make up the majority of the areas vineyards. Boasting a climate similar to Tuscany, cold, rainy winters give way to dry summers with plentiful sunshine. Umbria's lushness is in part attributed to to the famous Tiber River which flows down from the mountains balancing the typically dry weather.
