This one really did well at my brewhouse! Didn't take long to mellow out and really had a nice, creamy taste to it.

Finally got to taste this beer after the long wait that comes as a result from bottling (I typically keg). My wife and I enjoyed this more than the Magic Hat version. I ended up using all the hops that were sent instead of following the recipe, it gave this beer a nice pale ale kick that finished with a hint of apricot. I typically find the apricot in Magic Hat #9 to be a little overpowering, but this kit got it just right.

I like it, I like it alot.... I used all the apricot and aged it for 8 weeks after carbonating with priming sugar in a keg. The head is great and lasts the till I finish the glass. The smell is very nice and the aftertaste doesn't linger. I liked it better than the real stuff...mine is sweater with a slight dryness. I'm very pleased with it and will make it again. My friends enjoyed it very much...well I always enjoy free beer too! - Bill

REALLY disappointed in this one... just did a side by side comparison... color is good... head is good... taste does not compare to original... it made me question whether or not I had actually put the apricot flavoring in the batch... I hit all of my gravities... it sat in the on deck keg for about 3 weeks after conditioning in secondary... not sure what went wrong but suffice to say for me this is not even close!

MH #9 was the beer I drank in college after I graduated from Bud Light. So I brewed it as tribute. I did the partial mash and added 3 oz. of hops (recipe calls for 1.75 oz). 2 weeks in primary, 1 week in secondary, and 4 weeks in bottles. I am very pleased with the way it turned out. It is perfect summer beer. I will brew it again next year.

If you like Magic Hat you will love this beer. It is very close, however I was unable to do a side-by-side comparison. I did the all grain and put in the apricot flavoring when I transferred it to the keg (as per the instructions). I added about 2/3 of the apricot because of previous reviews stating the flavor was too strong with all of it. This turned out to be the perfect amount. Will be adding this one to the rotation.

I havent tried this clone yet but I am ordering it right after I post this. I noticed some people saying that it didnt taste like real Magic Hat #9. Just a little heads up about Magic Hat. They change there recipes a lot and the Magic Hat you rember back in the day might be very different than the one today. The Clone Recipe on here might be closer to one of their older batches so it is not a very good beer to compare side by side....Just my 2 cents....Enjoy!! I will post again once my kit arrives and I brew!!!

Similar experience as Scott A Å“ did a mini mash, followed the recipe to the letter, hit all gravities, and bottled the batch. After 3 weeks the visual side by side comparison was incredible, but the beer didn't have a hint of apricot. After 6 weeks there is minimal change in the flavor. It is a good tasting beer Å“ just not a close match to MH #9.

I'm a huge fan of pretty much all of Magic Hat's selections, especially #9 so I had to give this a try. I followed the instructions exactly as directed. It's been bottled for 3 weeks now and I just did a side by side comparison. The color is spot on and the head is good, but as of right now, it's much sweeter than the real thing and the hops are not quite as pronounced. It turned out pretty good, but I think if I did it again I would have added a bit more Cascade to the wort and only half of the apricot flavoring just before bottling. But, all homebrew gets better the longer it sits so maybe the sweetness will balance out a bit more over the next few weeks.
