Great recipe
This was the second attempt I had at trying a home brew, with the first one being an unmitigated disaster. Got better equipment, and gave this recipe a try. In a blind test, this one won out over the commercial version!

The instant I dropped the bittering hops into the batch, it smelled EXACTLY like Firestone's Double Barrel Ale. The problem now (other than waiting the painful 2 weeks) is that I no longer see this kit available. Please tell me it still exists!!!

Firestone Walker puts 20% of each batch of Double Barrel Ale in American oak barrels for 6 days before it's moved to a stainless steel secondary. The other 80% of the DBA batch is all stainless. It probably won't make a huge difference, but note this kit does NOT include oak chips. If you're into that whole oaky thing, you might want to order some separately and put in about 1/5 of what you normally would.
