This is a very sublime Merlot from the prestigious vineyards of California's Napa Valley. There, ideal climate and soil conditions combined with refined growing and cellaring techniques allow for consistent high quality treatment of grape varietals. Harvested from the highly regarded Stag's Leap District on the valley's east bench, this Merlot is dry and medium-bodied with a soft, supple fruity palate of plums, red and black berries, and chocolate. Its characteristic spicy aroma, accentuated with light warm oak, foreshadows the rich, round, smooth and mouth-filling flavor experience. It finishes with a warm spiciness and gentle hints of oak, toast, and vanilla. Food pairings: beef dishes, poultry with rich sauces, lamb, game birds, pasta with tomato sauces, hard firm cheeses, and hearty stews.

Sweetness: Dry
Body: Medium-Full
Oak Intensity: Heavy

The 18 liters of regional varietal juice makes 6 gallons, providing approximately 30 bottles of wine. Extended aging in bottles will greatly enhance flavor. Bottle labels included.

Superb quality wine in an easy-to-make kit
This Merlot kit makes a great tasting wine with a mouthful of complexity. The skins/seeds provide firm tannins and characteristics that you would expect from a top shelf commercial wine. There are 2 stages of oak with this kit that provide 2 distinct flavor profiles. The light-toasted oak during primary gives a warm vanilla flavor, while the dark-toasted cubes at secondary hit the back of the palate with toast and toffee. This Merlot has an intriguing peppery note that I didn't expect, which I suppose is characteristic of Stag's Leap District in Napa Valley. Of the dozens of wines I've made in the past couple years (including my own homemade recipes and 5 kits), this is hand's-down my favorite. It has all the body of my favorite Cabernet, and juicy fruit flavors of Merlot, and everything else that makes a wine "good".
