A lifesaver in Summer yeast shipment
I understood the recommendation to use dry yeast for brews sent through Texas Summer, but I really wanted an American Hefeweizen yeast (White Labs-WLP 320) for my summer wheat ale. The "Cold Pack" did the trick. It was melted when I pulled it out (though cool), but it saved the viability of White Labs American Hefeweizen yeast, despite shipment through a typically brutal Texas Summer. Pitched into fresh wort, it began fermenting within 3 days, and fermented out clean, with Hefeweizen taste- great!
