Brewed this kit with an additional teaspoon of tangerine peel and only used one ounce hersbrucker for bittering hop with no extra hop at all. Tastes better than blue moon or shock top.

Just brewed my second blue moon kit. The first one was pretty close to the actual. It was lacking in orange flavor. A couple orange slices help, this time I steeped my spice pack an extra 5 minutes to see if I could capture a little more orange flavor.

I have brewed this kit twinc now and it is fantastic. It is close to blue moon but I think better. I altered the bittering and aroma hop amounts the second round and I think it adds something to the flavor profile. I just got back form my local fair where I entered a bottle of my latest batch and I won first place! Great beer.

Partial Mash. SafeBrew T-58 yeast. ABV: 5.7%. 4 SRM. 10 IBU. Brewed: 11/02/2012. Sample 1: 12/15/2012. -Nice haze and good mouthfeel. Gold color. Estery, slight butterscotch. Sample 2: 05/18/2013. -haze gone, nearly transparent. Same color. The yeast (esters) flavors are much more pronounced and overwhelm the taste. Tasted good regardless.

This is close to blue moon, but far easier to drink. At two weeks in the bottle it has a very strong orange taste that makes it very good. After five weeks it the bitter orange peel took on a stronger flavor, but was very good. The need to add an orange slice like the original isn't necessary. Great recipe that will be in regular rotation.

I went with the LME kit and this one went for about a week in the primary and about 5 weeks in the secondary before botteling. I left the spice pack in the when transferred to the primary to make sure the flavor from the orange peel and coriander had a chance to blend. I kept the secondary in my basement at about 50 degrees which clarified beautifully. First bottle was drank yesterday which is still early as they have only been in the bottle about 10 days (still under carbonated but had to check) and all I can say is WOW! I am a Blue Moon fan but I think this is much better than the original. So good I just ordered 2 more kits. Highly recommend if you like Blue Moon.

I forgot to crack the coriander before adding it to the boil but some of the flavor still came through. It turned out to be one of my more favorite beers with a fresh orange flavor, very drinkable, I will be making this again very soon. I picked up a store bought bottle and compared the two, the home brew was so much better I couldn't finish the store bought version and I've always believed it is sacrilegious to dump beer. Great job AHS!

When I first started brewing I used another supplier. The first kit I made was a Blue Moon Clone from there. It was good. This kit is great! 2 weeks single one week bottle and I had to try it. Waiting is not my strong point. Bad I know in brewing. This is extremely close. Yet another awesome job guys from AHS.

Brewed the extract version back in March and went with the WLP400 option. While it's very good, it's not spot on for a Blue Moon. Mine had more banana/clove than the commercial version. I really did like it and it disappeared quickly. However, after doing some research I've discovered that Coors/Blue Moon doesn't use Belgian Wit yeast. They use California or an American (can't recall the exact strain right now). I will brew this one again (I've moved to AG and will go that route next), but plan to use WLP001 next time around.

I commented on this one before. It is now my "house beer". Everyone loves it who tries it. I have made it several times. If you like citrusy, kinda sweet spring/summer beers, try this one. You won't be dissapointed! I have made it twice this year already.

Yeah, I agree with most of these posts....I was a little disappointed with this one. It's not a bad beer by any means and I just might buy it again. If you gave it to me and didn't tell me it was a Blue Moon clone, I wouldn't even think Blue Moon, but I would certainly enjoy it and compliment it. So, it's a good drinking beer, but just don't think you'll be tricking your friends into thinking it's the original!

I bought the extract version with alcohol boost and wyeast yeast. This was my first brew and I definitely learned a lot from the experience. The yeast was very slow and ended up needing two weeks in the primary and a week in the secondary. After 1 week the hydrometer read 1.030. Next time I will just leave in the primary for more time and use a starter. At the end of the first 4 weeks the beer was not drinkable. Initially I believed it was because of bacterial infection, but after giving the beer more time (3 more weeks) the flavor mellowed significantly. Much hoppier than a blue moon. It is my recommendation for a more blue moon style flavor (for the extract version) buy an additional pack or two of the orange and coriander to boost the flavor. It was virtually undetectable in the final product.

This is one good kit. I have made kits before from other suppliers, and was not too impressed. This one is very good, the OG and FG came out just right, the partial mash instructions were good, the tech support is great. I just bottled it, but it tasted great without carbontation, if maybe a bit citrusy. that may blend in over time. I would definately recommend this one, except sub a regular ale yeast. I used Safale-5 (the pink one). all I read about the real Blue Moon is that it uses an American ale yeast and not the wit yeast. its not an authentic wit beer to start with, so I decided to doctor mine up. Its a definite "buy again". I may even try some of their other kits now. Like I said, I'm very impressed.

Not like Blue Moon (probably a good thing!), slightly tart and citrusy with mild, nicely balanced hoppiness. More bananna flavor and aroma early, which mellowed out with aging (7 wks @ 70 deg., then all went into the fridge). IMO, better cool than ice cold. May do this again next spring / summer, and perhaps add a little more orange peel and corriander.

Brewed this kit 2 months ago, and i've had it kegged for 2 weeks....my wife (loves good beer) said last night, watching MNF that she likes my beer better than Blue Moon!!! Nice compliment, coming from her. I asked what she liked better, and she went on to explain..."there is no bitter after taste, and the orange flavor is not overwhelming. I like this kit and would buy it again for summer. It is easy drinking, and a very good beer for everyone to enjoy.

I used the partial mash recipe with the recommended white labs yeast and kegged after 5 weeks in primary. I think is better than Blue Moon, but very much in the white beer style. Q:
I purchased this kit not realizing it is an all grain kit and I don't have the equipment necessary to brew this type of beer. Can I return it for a different kit of equal or greater value? I believe I need the same kit as an extract not all grain. Thank you for your consideration! Roy Bussard 724-272-1774

Q:
I am just about to brew your Belgian White all grain I just purchased two weeks ago. I am using Brewfather and am recreating the recipe there so I can do various measurements during brewing (pre boil gravity, etc.). When I add the ingredients to Brewfather in your stated amounts, the expected OG and FG do not match your recipe. Are you able to provide any potential SG or yield %'s for your grains?
Asked by:
George
- 12/29/2020
A:
the base for the 2 row and 6 row malt used on this recipe has a point potential of 1.036 for what the master provides. the carafoam and Munich are supplied by Weyermann malt, and the remainder provided by BRiess malting to check their sites for the specific grain specs
