Anchor Steam
New brewer as of Dec'14. Have made this beer twice now and both times it turned out excellent. As good as what you get in SF!

Excellent beer kit! I got the all grain kit. Tastes same or better that store beer.

I made the AG version with the Wyeast California Lager, and it turned out great. I fermented around 60 degrees and am happy with the flavors the yeast imparted at that temperature. Next time I might try a little warmer to see what else the yeast could add. Definitely a great recipe...go for it.

This recipe is fantastic! It is better than commercial Anchor Steam. I have brewed it twice, once in bottles and currently I did three batches and placed into a 15.3 gal keg with carbonation. It is simply outstanding. I used the mixed recipe (mini-mash). I have been home brewing for 35 years and this is the beer I will make for my son's wedding party.

This is an oustanding beer, better than the store bought or tap. I had friends in town and this on tap and we found a bar that had this on tap. I used the alcohol boost and I think that was the difference b/t the true brew an this. My wife and friends loved it. I will brew this again.

Made the all grain version of this beer, this being my first all grain from AHS. Don\'t know how else to put this, but holy crap I will never use extract again. The head retention and lacing on this beer is total awesome. Have never never never experienced this with extract beer. Will brew this again have always been a partial mash brewer but never again, thanks AHS!

This was my first AG brew; it turned out awsome. I left all of my hop bags in the primary (accident), and the 1st test bottle was rough, but after 3 weeks of bottle conditioning it turned out better than Anchor. I fermented mine between 72* -74*, and it is sweeter/has more body than Anchor; it balanced the hop flavor well. I've never seen anyone brew it that warm online, but I discussed it w/ the microbioligist at Wyeast and got his blessing. I will brew this again for sure.

After brewing around 10 batches of other stuff previously, this is my best batch to date, I did the mini mash and it came out a little darker then the original. I did a side by side taste and I enjoyed the hop characteristics of mine better but liked the finish of the original anchor better. It's a great drinkable beer that I feel gets better with age.

Excellent recipe! I brewed the mini mash version and missed the OG by .008. Ouch...I know! It's was my first fermentation under controlled temps (68-72). I'll definitely brew again...this one's a winner!
