Sticke Alt is a seasonal, variation of Dusseldorf Altbier. The word Sticke (shtick-uh) is Dusseldorf slang for "secret". Back in the days before brewers used more exact methods for measuring, brewers measured by the bucketful. This method would sometimes cause inconsistencies from batch to batch. Usually this would result in a maltier, darker, higher ABV brew. Local beer enthusiasts would whisper secretively to other aficionados that a heartier brew was available at the pub, hence the term Sticke Alt. Specialty malts:
