Need Some Rice Hulls
Currently fermenting so cant comment on the taste, but I would definitely recommend getting some rice hulls if doing all grain. I started with 5% of the grain bill since I was worried about the sparge sticking, but found it stuck anyway. Bumped up to 10% and was good to go. I will admit I usually dont brew wheat based beers so this may be obvious to some, but for those its not hope this helps.

Perfect Sumer brew
We brewed this with the intention of having a crisp wheat to drink as the temperature came up. Followed the directions exactly, but added 4 oz of orange peel when we added the lemongrass, just for the cool-down. We tried it after three weeks in the keg and I've just pulled the last growler off four weeks later. Delicious, and it's getting better week by week - first crisp and refreshing, now with noticable smooth citrus noters on the backend - I only wish I'd let it wait longer. Oh well, I'll order it again and give it more time. Recommend.

One of my best yet. Good summertime brew. Nice lemon aroma without being overpoweringly fruity.

Absolutely delicious but truely terrifying to brew! Adding the pack of dried lemongrass at the same time as the yeast takes a leap of faith - it is like adding two handfuls of dried lawn clippings....But it did settle through the primary. It then made siphioning interesting. Fantastic aroma and tart taste from the lemongrass makes this a crowd pleaser though.

A crowd-pleaser! I had a party last night and had 4 beers on tap. Almost everyone liked this best, although most people at the party were non-beer drinking women if that makes any difference. In order to sanitize the lemongrass, I placed the whole 1 oz in a small muslin bag. I threw it in the brew kettle with about 2 mins left in the boil. I left it in while I chilled and then transferred the lemongrass to the fermenting bucket and left it in there for about a week. I then took the lemongrass bag out and transferred to secondary. Warning - the lemongrass absorbed a lot of wort in the fermenting bucket (about 1/2 gallon). Adjust the amount of wort you boil accordingly.

I put in 3/4 of the lemon grass, as well as a zested orange @ 60m, removed them, and put in the remaining 1/4 of lemongrass for the last 15m. i just racked to the secondary, and took a taste from the gravity test tube, and it was incredible. tart, almost like a lambic, but with that pleasant velvety wheat mouthfeel. i can\'t wait for this to bottle condition...i almost just want to take a straw and suck it right out of the secondary. As stated, use hop balls, or a grain bag. that\'s a lot of grass in yer beer.

This was my first brew and it turned out wonderful. It has only been in the bottles a little over a week and I could not resist taking a taste. Nice lemon flavor, not overpowering. Very smooth with minimal bitterness. I can't wait for it to age a little more! Also, follow the advice of others and use a muslin bag or 3 Hop Balls (like I did) for the lemongrass, you will thank yourself when it comes time to rack to the secondary. I will definately brew this one again!

Skeptical at first, along with everyone I shared it with, but the whole batch was gone before Memorial Day weekend was over. I wish it was summer so I could have an excuse to brew more of this!

Great beer for those hot summer days. Goes down easy and the lemongrass adds a refreshing flavor. Only had a couple of glasses and then my wife made me leave the rest for her.

Made this a bit back and really enjoyed it as did all who were able to try some. Crisp and lemony, it is a nice treat on a warm day for sure. As mentioned, use a bag (we used a strainer) before putting to primary and pitching to catch all the lemongrass.

Put the lemongrass in a mesh bag! Else siphoning will be a bear. Good solid beer, maybe a bit too much lemon...

Great beer, just brew my second kit (all grain) in a year. Slightly malty, lemony and zesty, a great wheat beer. I brewed this kit cooler (61F ambient), I would recommend it, you get a cleaner flavor. This beer is best young, drink as soon as carbonated! Also, +1 on the hop bag/ball, it is very difficult to siphon lemongrass :(

This beer came out great. I used a large hop bag for the lemongrass and it imparted a nice lemon flavor. This was my second All-Grain brew and I would recommend anyone to make the jump to all-grain! I fermented in the primary for 2 weeks at 62 degrees and then two weeks in the keg to carbonate!

Minimash 2 weeks primary, 10 days secondary. Added lemongrass in a small muslin bag at flameout. I don't agree with the earlier comment that this beer is best young. After 2 weeks in the bottle, the hop and lemongrass flavors were conflicting. For me this beer hit it's stride around 8 weeks in the bottle. Quite a refreshing flavor - this has been a nice beer to have around for the warm Texas 'winter'.

My friends keep on asking me when I'm going to brew this again. This beer only lasted a month! I was concerned that the lemongrass would make it taste like furniture polish but follow the directions precisely and you'll nail it. Awesome beer.

Q:
What is "5 HBU Pack"?
Asked by:
Steve B.
- 7/23/2018
A:
The 5HBu pack is a premeasued hop pack that will provide the prper bitterness levels to your beer when added. this is basedo nthe season alpha acid changes on the hops from yuear to year, to maintain the same level of bitterness to not effect consistancy of the recipe when brewed
