This pale ale recipe has a nice citrusy flavor and aroma with a hint of pine.

Specialty malts: English Crystal
Featured hops: Chinook, Amarillo, Centennial

O.G. = 1.059
F.G. = 1.014

Good IPA and a half
Brewed the MM version. My first attempt at an IPA. Nice light color with a good head. It took a while to clear up, but after 6 weeks it is quite clear. Great piney/floral hop nose. Initially it was a bit sweet but it has aged nicely. Now a great combination of malt with just the right hop bitterness and floral notes and the high alcohol makes it finish crisp and clean. Great brew will definitely do again.

I made the AG version; I put the aroma/flavor hops in at flameout, vs. dry hopping, as I've had issues w/ grassy flavors from dry hopping. 2 weeks primary, 4 days in secondary; force carbed and ready to drink 48 hours after kegged. It's been a little more than a week in the keg, and it was good as soon as it carbed, and it has improved since then. The color is copper w/ a golden/frothy head. The aroma is citrusy, but it has mellowed as the week has passed; I'm sure it would last longer w/ dry hopping. The flavor is piney/bitter w/ hints of citrus. This is a really nice IPA; I read the previous reviews, so I expected it to be more along the lines of an IPA. I plugged the recipe into my Beer Smith software, but I won't give away the IBU's....let's just say it's an IPA and leave it at that.

I loved the beer; it made for a nice IPA...which is what I expected from the previous reviews. nice copper color, and good fruity aroma/flavor, with nice bitterness. I chose this brew, because it had a nice hop combination, and I'm a hop head too. It didn't disappoint, but I also think it is modest enough for someone ready to get into IPA's as well. Cheers

I did the AG, 2 wk's primary, 4 days secondary, and kegged/force carbed in 48 hr's. I did not dry hope, but rather added the hops at flam out. I've been getting grassy/veggy flavors from dry hopping lately. Fantastic IPA...I read the reviews, so I knew this would be a hop forward beer. I'm a hop head anyway, and I liked the hop combination that this recipe had. The color is copper, w/ a light yellowish head. Has a nice fruity aroma, even w/o the dry hops. Taste is piney/grape fruity, Like a good American IPA should be. Nice beer, and a good way to get the APA drinkers to acclimate to IPA's.

This is great but with a 3.2-3.3 gallon partial boil I ended up with around 60 IBUs, tastes more like an IPA. Very good though. Yeast didn't clear up as much as I thought so i would recommend using a clarifying aid with this.

First recipe from AHS. One week in primary and one week in secondary. Follow mini mash recipe exactly. Cracked one open a week after bottling and it was great! Good balance of hop flavor. Definitely one of the better pale ale kits I have tried.

I did the all grain version. The greenbelt yeast is very clean and highly flocculant, resulting in a clear and hoppy beer. There are a lot of hops in this kit and, as other commenters have said before, the resulting beer is more of an IPA than a pale ale. When I plugged it into beersmith, before brewing, it was confirmed. The IBUs are in the IPA range. The hop aroma was slight, as most of the hops have a high AA content. I think this one was a bit of a miss for my preferences. but I do see some potential for the greenbelt yeast.

This was my first mini mash and it came out great. I did a full boil and didn't cut the hops, so mine is a little hoppier but I would not say it's borderline IPA. I do not enjoy IPAs - they give me heartburn. This pale ale is great!

It turned out great. The hop profile was very pleasing. I enjoy hoppy IPAs and this was on par with my favorite commercial offerings. My neighbors, friends and even the local liquor store beer aficionado approved and exhausted my 5 gallon supply in days. I brewed the extract version, next time I will do the mini-mash. I will be brewing this one again soon, I suggest you try this one as well.

All Grain. Added boost. I agree with above stated comments of being borderline IPA. I took a hydro reading before bottling and I had it almost to 7%. 9 in 1st, 14 in 2nd (with dry hopping). Bottle conditioned for 14 then a cold crash for clarity. Wonderful recipe with piney notes and excellent hop utilization thanks to the dry hop. I shall brew this kit again. Thank AHS.
