Great standby beer. Add 2 oz. of espresso beans at flameout for an excellent winter warmer!

Brewed this one out in the cold so I could have it ready to keg and drink on St. Patrick's Day (week). AWESOME! Only a few drunk Irish freinds over and it was gone! -coachG

My first brew in years and this came out great! Resist the temptation to drink too early. After 7 weeks the flavor was noticeably better and continued to get better until I emptied the keg.

What can i say but awesome, The dry stout has only been in the bottles for 4 days and it very very very smooth. When it first hits your mouth it is clean and mild and after a few seconds the roasted favor of the grains come thru. 2 to 3 weeks conditioning in the bottles and this beer will be total awesome. I brewed the mini-mash (liquid) with the dry yeast, maybe next time i will try the liquid yeast and see if there is a difference.

OK, so it doesn't cascade. But other than missing the pretty bubble show, this kit is hard to distinguish from bottled Guinness.

Nice recipe! I've noticed that allowing the primary fermenter (mine is glass) to be exposed to indirect daylight results in a more floral, less dry stout. I've brewed batches in both total darkness (basement) and indirect daylight (kitchen corner). So far, people seem to prefer the indirect daylight batches. Adjusting the light exposure can produce distinctly different tasts. Great base recipe!

This is a very, very average kit...I had it in primary 2 weeks, secondary for 4 weeks, and then kegged for another two weeks before drinking...Its very average...I've done easily 40-50 kits too and this is not my first by any means...I love their stuff usually, this one was the mini, but this kit just isn't up to par...I'd give it a 2 out of of 5 rating....I would pick another stout.. Austin is almost always dead on awesome, just not this time...

I didn't particularly like stouts until I brewed this one! Very light and dry and very drinkable. I did the all grain recipe and was not dissapointed. A great beer and mild such that it also appeals to females (who generally like a lighter beer). I will brew this one again!
