I got this beer based on the comment stating that this is a brew for those "who want something different but can't handle strange". I have never been a fan of the few rye ales that I have tried, but I wanted to expand my brewing portfolio so I ordered it. 1 week primary with wyeast london esb, 1 week in secondary, and it has been in the keg for about 3 weeks. during the end of the first week in the keg i sampled it.... i was hoping to pawn it off on my friends due to its outrageous earthy off-flavors. But with some time it does become crisp, loses the odd flavors, and restored my faith in ryes. It has an initial aromatic flavor followed by a crisp clean finish with a thin mouthfeel and very little hop influence. My one suggestion is to add more aromatic hops, but at the same time this may get confused or argue with the rye flavors. I would recommend this to those that like an "interesting" beer (especially for hot weather), want to give rye beers a shot, or simply want something different, but for those that are just starting with the hobby it may be best to save this brew for later.
