I have lost count of the number of times I have made this beer! It is a great beer kit!! Try the mini-mash, it takes it up a notch in taste and appearance.

Disappointed
Got the mini-mash. came out amber in color not gold. I did not filter out the orange peel - perhaps this is why? In any case, not the best in terms of color. flavor was average. Body didn't really remind me of a good wit.

I made this back in August and was impressed with it in September. I secretly kept back 24 of these babies to save for the holidays and broke a few out at Thanksgiving -- WOW! possibly the best beer I've ever had; amazing how much this brew improved over the months. I can't wait to make (and stash) another batch of this.

This is an excellent representation of a Belgian Wit. Due to some mess-ups on my part during brewing my SRM was nowhere near what it should be for a Wit, but it still has the pronounced orange and corriander tastes that really set this beer apart. I will certainly be brewing this again.

Bottled this one and trying to make it last, but freinds LOVE it! This one is a beer that can convince you to homebrew. After a couple of weeks in the fridge the yeast will fall and it turns into a clear beer. But just rouse it and pour, it becomes cloudy again. Great Brew! -coachG

Good recipe. Very simple. The boil is short making this beer a very quick to make, you could do this along with something else for a day and have a hell of a time. I don't like wheat beers but this is a pretty easy drinker. I brought it to BBQ a few days ago and it was a huge hit. Granted everyone is from Nebraska and Boulevard and Sunshine wheat are EXTREMELY popular. They had the choice of drinking that and i had to make a couple trips back to the car to get the Belgian White after everyone asking for more. I drank it while eating some seasoned steak and brats and it was really good considering i dont' like wheat beers. If you want a beer on tap for buddies or make a batch for the summer to take to BBQ's and what not. If you want a beer to please homebrew skeptics..this is perfect.

Brewed this all-grain using the T-58 dry yeast (rehydrated) about a month ago and just kegged it today. First taste prior to carbonating reminds me a lot of Hoegaarden, and is very smooth! I have a feeling that this one won\'t last long. To crack the coriander, I just put it in a ziplock bag and rolled a beer bottle over it until it was all cracked open but not crushed. I put it in the fermenter and kept it at 68 for about a month. I think it turned out well enough to do again for sure!

This is definitely a crowd pleaser and it's a good beer to brew for a party. 14 days in primary then bottle/keg condition for 3 weeks and it's ready to be served. It does get better after about 5 week of conditioning but very nice flavor after 3. I have brewed the extract and the mini mash and both were great.

I brewed the all grain version of this recipe on new year's eve 2010, and bottled on 1/19/11. This was my 3rd all grain brew and 7th overall, and I must say it is the first truly quaffable beer I have brewed thus far. I pitched the Fermentis T-58 Belgian yeast (rehydrated) and it tastes amazing. I feel obligated to mention that, in addition to the spices included in the recipe, I added some sweet orange peel to the wort (same time as the other spice additions, and in quantity it was roughly half the amount of the supplied bitter orange peel) from a local bulk spice purveyor, and used my coffee grinder (cleaned of course) to grind the coriander and bitter orange peel. I highly recommend this brew. All of my previous brews have required some aging, but this one is quite good straight away. Brew this...now.

WOW! Great Beer. I made this using mini mash method with white labs yeast. I used extra orange zest from two oranges. I made sure not to get the white part to not make the beer bitter. Three weeks in PRI @ 68-70 F and 1 week in SEC. Forced carbed for 2 days @ 15 PSI rolling keg on ground until no more CO2 is absorbed by the liquid. Then let rest in fridge @ 15 PSI for 2 weeks. All i can say is WOW this is by far the best homebrew I made! I actually like it better than blue moon. Much more refreshing! If you are into Belgian beer, get this now with WL yeast. you will not be disappointed.

Being my first time ever brewing beer, I was concerned with how this (extract brew) would come out. Imagine my surprise when I found my first batch to be fantastic! After 1 week in primary and 1 in secondary, I put it into my keg and three days later sampled it. Wow! My father tried it during a Sunday football BBQ, and after he finished it he said it was good. When I asked if he wanted another, he passed in favor for a bottle of Leinenkugel Honey Wheat. Half way through his glass he told me that my beer was better! I also used some of the beer for a marinade for some rib eyes and it was fantastic. At band practice, the guys in my group couldn't keep their mitts off of the tap...even my guitar player who turns his nose up to anything that doesn't say Yuengling or Michelob. He raved about it. I am very pleased indeed!

This is a follow up to my original review. This beer has turned out to be excellent. It's very tasty and blows the doors off of Blue Moon. It was a huge hit at my birthday party. When people are on their third one, you know they aren't just being polite to the newbie brewer. I received very positive feedback from everyone that tried it. In fact, a number of people brought their own beer and didn't touch any of it. I went through almost the whole batch at the party. I had to stash some to keep all of it from disappearing. I want to compare it to the second batch in the hopes of acheiving consistency. I live in Austin where lately it's warm to hot for most of the year. This is a great warm weather beer. It will be in regular rotation from now on.

I have tried Blue Moon before and thought it was awful. This is what Blue Moon should taste like. I brewed the AG version and fermented on the low temp range with Wyeast Belgian Witbier 3944. I made a starter with stir plate, pitched at 65° and kept it at 64° for three weeks then bottled. I tested a bottle after one week and it was ready to drink. It was very good and didn't taste green. My beer critic buddy loved it. The Coriander tasted fresh and I didn't get that V8 taste like I get with BM. It finished with a nice tart orange feel on my tongue. I am going to brew this again as soon as I get half way through this batch. I plan on keeping this one around at all times.

This was my third batch as a homebrewer. I used the mini-mash kit with LME and the recommended WLP400 Belgian Wit yeast . I brewed on March 31 2012 and bottled 3 weeks later. Based on other comments, I skipped the secondary this time and went straight from the primary to the bottling bucket. I brewed this beer to be able to serve at my birtdhday party at the end May. I took special care to control the temperatures during the mini-mash and initial fermetation stages. I kept the temp at 68 degrees the first 4 days in the primary and then let it rise to 72 for the next 2.5 weeks. I think it's my best batch so far. The OG/FG were dead on with the recipe. This beer turned out very tasty. I actually drank a glass at room temp with no carbonation while I was bottling and enjoyed it. I compared it side by side with Blue Moon. It's actually lghter in color and less sweet. I can't wait until it carbs up and I chill one down. This should be a great warm weather beer.

My first kegged beer: I actually ground up the coriander, in a pepper grinder, crushed up the orage with a hammer. Dunno if that's what I was supposed to do, but let's just say, the entire keg was gone in 4 days. Un. Real. The BEST part is, my hunny loved it so much, she actually wants me to buy more kits! YAY! "He stand at the plate. The 0-0 pitch. *crack* Wow! Look at that fly! A home-run for the rookie in Blacksburg!" I was also told, it looks like Blue M**n, but better!

I am a new brewer and this Belgian White was my second brew ever. I brewed the mini mash version with liquid extract. I left this in my primary for almost 5 weeks and left it in the bottle almost 4 weeks. Tonight was the big night and I tried this beer with a little trepidaton since my first brewing attempt was not very good. Let me tell you, this is really delicious. It has a fairly light cloloration and pretty good head using the entire packet of priming sugar that comes with the kit. My beer fermented at a pretty steady 62 to 65 degrees the entire time and the bottled product also sat at the same temperature. This beer is delightfully smooth and came out with no off flavors whatsoever. I love this beer! I strongly recommend it if you want a smooth, easy to drink ale.

Brewed this on 11/30/11 and I'm drinking one on 1/25/12 and the results are fantastic. I did the Mini-Mash w. Dry Malt Extract and Wyeast 3944. The coriander and orange peel definitly bring out the flavor and if I had to compare this to a commercial brew, I'd say its closer to Hoegaarden than to Allagash White or Blue Moon. The coriander comes whole and if I did this brew again I'd start crushing the coriander at the beginning of the boil as it takes a little time. I used a garlic press to crush the coriander. I gave some of this to a family member and beer connoisseur who mostly drinks IPA's and even though it wasn't their thing, they liked this and said it was true to the style. I would definitely not hesitate to order this kit again, especially for the summer.

Initially this beer was almost undrinkable (too much bitter coriander), but now after 8 weeks of aging its one of the best batches I've made (coriander has mellowed significantly), and it continues to get better. Coriander initially overpowered everything, but now it has mellowed significantly and tastes wonderful. Beautiful golden color, medium head retention, coriander/citrus flavors present but not overpowering - very easy to drink. Everyone loves it now, saying it tastes better than Hoegaarden. Brewed DME kit with White Labs yeast. Lightly toasted the coriander seeds before pitching (maybe this is why the coriander was so strong initially) but didn't crack them. Didn't filter wort (left coriander/citrus in) when pouring to primary. Fermented in primary for 3.5 weeks (FG of 1.012, 5.1%ABV, hit at 12 days), no secondary. Bottle conditioned half, kegged half. Didn't cool wort fast enough and beer developed pretty bad chill haze (crystal clear at room temp, foggy when refrigerated). With 1+ months of aging I found this to be a really terrific beer. Anyone who likes Blue Moon / Hoegaarden will like this.

This a such a great recipe. This was my 6th homebrew and by far the best. I used mini-mash, 2 weeks in primary, 3 weeks in secondary and bottled. It's best when poured in a glass to let off some of the carbonation. I just started doing all-grain and kegging and this is definitely going to be on one of my taps soon.

Second brew ever, liquid extract with white labs yeast. Did half bitter and half sweet orange peel and cracked the coriander. 3 weeks primary, no secondary. Tried it after 2 weeks in the bottle, and it's fricking great! Shared a few with some friends and got the "You made this?" Comment and they all loved it! As others have stated, if it gets better with age, then I'm even more excited! Great recipe and will definitely reorder!

This is one great Belgain White Beer. I have brewed the extract and the Mini Mash Kits and they are both wonderful. The only problem I have is keeping it around, my friends love it.

An awesome and wonderfully refreshing beer. Would recommend the partial mash or all-grain version.

I have been home brewing for over a year. I just opened the first bottle after only 1 week of carbonation. This is by far the best beer I have made. It pours a fantastic head. Has a wonderfull initial "bite" and leaves a fruity aftertaste. I will always keep a batch of this in the fermenter from now on. Just a wonderful beer. This beer is the reason I wanted to "brew my own". Do the mini-mash kit. Just follow the directions and you will be rewarded with a great beer.

Made this in April and kegged it. Served at a party last weekend and it was the first of three corny kegs to be drained. Be advised that the instructions call for a short boil and it's not a misprint. It was a clean beer with a nice head...maybe a little too much bitter orange but that could be me. A keeper overall...I'll brew it again!

Excellent Belgian white beer! One of my favorites to date and a big hit with the neighborhood. I've got plenty of folks willing to taste test this recipe! The coriander seed in the recipe comes whole since it goes stale very quickly once cracked, so you will need to crack it prior to brewing. I just wrapped the plastic bag in a washcloth and tapped it with a hammer until most of the seed was cracked. A heavy rolling pin might also work. If you use a hammer, be careful not to pulverize the seed or it will be too strong. Highly recommended for the summer rotation- enjoy this one!

Bought the mini-mash kit, halved the hops quantities as I was adding the extract late (at flame out). I added a gel clarifier into secondary fermentation, let this one go about 24 days total fermentation, bottle conditioned a couple of months before sitting in the fridge for a week or two--OUTSTANDING beer, excellent version of Blue Moon--my wife loves this beer. Beautiful authentic orangy-yellow color, just an incredibly smooth and drinkable beer.

Excellent Brew! I brewed the extract kit. Used a garlic press to crush the corriander. I brewed per the instructions. Used White Labs recommended liquid yeast. Primary for 2 weeks, Secondary for another week. Primed with 1.5 cups of Light DME and bottled. As everyone has said, it got better with age and now my friends keep asking when the next batch is going to be done. Second batch just bottled, third in the primary and 1 kit on the shelf. I raise my glass to Austin Homebrew Supplies for providing an excellent brew kit!

Good beer, I like it so far. I tried one each additional week after bottling and it keeps getting better. Can taste the orange a bit, not overpowering at all. The color of my batch has a tinge of red in it but pretty close to the pic.

I agree with everyone here.. this is an AMAZING beer and even non-drinkers will love it. It has a superb foamy head with an aroma, flavor, and aftertaste that will keep your lips on that glass rim! I've fed this brew (with BrewVint Alcohol Boost as well as using the YeastFuel) to a beer afficionado (lush) and all they kept saying was "HOLY COW. This is unbelieveable!". I foresee myself brewing large amounts of this in the future and experimenting with the recipe in subtle ways. This is one of the only beers that I could intake without getting severe congestion/allergies too. This beer recipe has awaken not only my brewing desires, but has also opened many others' eyes to the passion of homebrewing. I have noticed that the 2008 version of this recipe uses a different hops (Amarillo) than previous versions, but after tasting the beer just before transferring to secondary, it was very good.

All I can say is wow! I read the comments before buying this and wasn\'t too confident about it being as good as everyone says, but I brought this to a BBQ and even the non beer drinkers were amazed and had 3+ glasses. A winner for sure and since it went so fast I\'m ordering another kit right now!

This beer went quicker amongst the friends than any other beer I've brewed so far! Light on the tongue, nice aftertaste, great in hot weather! Didn't put this in the Kegerator, bottled instead, but I will definitely throw this one in the keg to keep it all at my house next time. You need to brew this beer!

Brewed the AG version. I used fresh orange and grapefruit zest instead of the bitter orange peel; it tasted great after only 7 days in the primary at room temperature. I'm excited to see how good it tastes cold and carbed. This is a solid recipe.

My batch is just now fully carbonated, hasn't been fully conditioned, but it is very nice. I just had a sample of McKenzie Micro Saison and mine Wit tasted very similar. I am very happy with mine. It really weirds some beer debutants out but I think that might make even better because I can hoard this wonderful brew. The sad thing is that my wife likes it too!

This is a very good brew. Many people liked it. However, I suggest to let it fully condition (3 weeks as per recipe.) I will definately re-brew, especially during the summer months. As usual I tend to start tasting my brews before they actually are ready.

Great Beer Kit! I used the T-58 yeast instead of the liquid and it turned out really tasty. The flavor really improves the longer it ages. I will be brewing this kit again, Thanks Austin Homebrew!
