Q: could you tell me the weight of the jug, and would it be possible for you to send me a picture of it with the handle? I intend to use it for water and especially as I am new to the practice and as the crock I load it into will have to be somewhat precariously out of reach, I am wondering if plastic might be a safer intro vessel?
A: the 3 gallon carboy weighs in at about 8-10 lbs and does not currently have a handle on the jug. Carrying inside of a milk crate or with the carrying straps you can purchase on item ID 73-1011 would be the best bet
Q: Is this made in Italy or China? Thanks
Q: We just received our three 3-gallon carboys. They are beautiful. Very happy. Wondering how they should be cleaned before we fill with water. Should they be washed with soap and water or just rinsed out with water?
A: They can be washed with a soap and water solution but would just need to be rinsed well and sanitized before use
Q: What are the dimensions (height and width) of the 3 -gallon carboy. Also, what size stopper should we order to fit the 3-gallon carboy?
A: The carboy is 17" tall, and 9-1/2" wide, and you would need a #7 stopper.
Q: How much lead in the glass? Is it CA Prop 65 compliant? And what's maximum heat tolerance? Is it boroscillate glass?
A: There should be no lead in the glass, they are CA Prop 65 compliant, and it is not boroscillate glass. These are not designed to be on direct flame or boiling liquids, but can stand about 100 degrees. Made in Italy.
Q: What is the measurement of the width of the opening as well as the widest point?
A: The opening is approximately 1-5/16" in diameter. The carboy is 9-1/2" wide at its widest point.
