Heady Topper is a delicious Double IPA from The Alchemist Brewery in Waterbury, VT. It is often rated as one of the best IPAs, and some would argue one of the best beers. If you can get your hands on a can, it is highly recommended. For the rest of us that can't get it, we have a clone.

This clone has an ABV of 8.0% and includes 11 oz of hops

One hoppy mother of a beer!

I used to drink Heady Topper on the regular when I was living in No Vt. Impossible to find outside of that area... I don't remember it being such a hop bomb, but it's been a while... This is a solid, drinkable double IPA. Just quite a bit hoppier than others I have brewed. I'll brew it again, but I'm not sure it will be in the regular rotation. May try a batch with a bit less dry hopping?

Outstanding!

I've never had Heady Topper, but if it's anything like this beer, I can see why it's so popular. It pours a beautiful golden orange color with the distictive NEIPA haze. A frothy, white head of foam laces the glass from start to finish and you can't escape the intoxicatingly, wonderful scent of hops. The taste is spot on NEIPA, loads of hop flavor, balanced with the malt sweetness without overpowering bitterness. I brewed it eighteen days before trying the first bottle. Of course after the first, I had to have a second. I will definitely brew this again.
