AHS Greenbelt Barleywine (19C)

This barleywine has a deep malty mouthfeel with a sweet aroma. The sweetness from the malt and the bitterness from the hops helps to balance this very strong beer. Aging this beer for 6 months to a year will help mellow it out and is highly recommended.

"Greenbelt" is a clean and versatile American ale yeast strain with good attenuation and high flocculation characteristics. This makes it a great yeast for hop driven beers, or enhancing specialty malts. Greenbelt is an Austin Homebrew Exclusive.

Specialty malts: Crystal 20L, Special B

Available Options:
Base Product Price  $49.99
Add or Subtract the following values for those items or sizes. Select "No Added Charge" to keep the products base price.

Kit Option:
Extract kit includes: priming sugar, milled specialty grains in a muslin bag, hops, and detailed instructions.
Mini-Mash involves additional time for steeping and does not come with a grain bag. We recommend a reusable nylon grain bag.
All grain brewing requires advanced equipment and techniques.

Yeast Option:
We recommend the following White Labs, Wyeast, or dry yeast for this recipe. Choose none if you already have yeast, or if want to order a different yeast. If we are temporarily out of stock of the yeast selected for this recipe, we will substitute a very similar strain so that your order will not be delayed.

Yeast Double Pitching Option:
We recommend double pitching (doubling the amount of yeast) for beers with a starting gravity over 1.060. The increase in cell count will help the beer finish at final gravity and make stuck fermentations less likely. It will also decrease the lag time between pitching and the start of fermentation, and eliminate the need for a starter, both reducing contamination chances. This option allows you to add another yeast for double pitching.

BrewVint Yeast Fuel:
A proprietary blend of yeast nutrients that provides food for the yeast for a more vigorous and faster fermentation.

Cold Pack:
Helps keep the yeast cool for shipping. From June through September this option is highly recommended for liquid yeast.

1% Alcohol Boost:
Add 1% alcohol to your beer without compromising its flavor. Brewvint Alcohol Boost is 55% maltose/45% glucose, a very fermentable mix with little flavor contribution.

Beer Bottle Caps:
A package of 60 bottle caps. Fits on standard 12 and 22 oz beer bottles.
