This was my 3rd batch (2nd from AHS) and I agree with others that it was a lot less hoppier then the original. I bought a 6 pack of original to compare and this one is less hoppier but much smoother to drink. I was actually thinking I\'ll be disappointed because it will be too hoppy because I dont like hoppy beers but I liked the way it came out. | Comment by Benjamin D on Thursday 17 May, 2007

I had not tried the original until about 3-4 months back. I did and thought this would be a good beer to try and make. I did very good. Some of those who frequent the Pubs may even say Spot on. Good color, very similar in taste and nose. If you think this should be Hoppy, I didn't think the original was either. Would do so again. Opened first bottle after 1 week as a test, because I was using it in a cheese dip, so had to drink the rest. Waitied about three weeks and was very satisfied. This extract was my first attempt at homebrewing in almost 10 years. I wish I could say that I haven't lost my touch, but I'm pretty sure the simplicity of the recipe saved me. A very good clone, a couple of my friends only picked this out of a blind taste test against the namesake because they said it "tastes the same, only fresh", which I suppose is the whole point... Very close in taste to the namesake, though the steeped mix brings a more smokey flavor. Excellent head and clear brown color. This will become a standard in my recipe cycle. | | |
