Comment by Matthew M on Thursday 27 May, 2010 Great beer. Previous reviews saying that it's better than Blue Moon is true. Had a couple friends try it against the real Blue Moon and they liked this beer better.
Used the Wyeast version of the yeast and the airlock was flying within 3 hours. Definately need a secondary with this one. | Comment by Jason K on Wednesday 26 May, 2010 1 week Primary, 1 week secondary, like others have said, it does not taste exactly like Blue Moon, however after making this I can no longer drink Blue Moon. This is a much better more robust beer. Going to make another batch of this for sure. | Comment by Aaron D on Friday 07 May, 2010 2 weeks in the primary and 3 weeks in the secondary made this a delicious beer. I would suggest letting it age for best results. | Comment by Richard M on Thursday 22 April, 2010 A very good Belgian white, but not a Blue Moon. However, eventhough it is not Blue Moon, your friends, neighbors and family will likely give this beer great reviews. | Comment by John M on Monday 05 April, 2010 I used the partial mash recipe with the recommended white labs yeast and kegged after 5 weeks in primary. I think is better than Blue Moon, but very much in the white beer style. I've had half a dozen friends and family sample this and all have gone back for seconds, thirds, and beyond. I have already ordered this recipe again.
Very highly recommended. | Comment by shawnovin p on Monday 26 October, 2009 Brewed this kit 2 months ago, and i've had it kegged for 2 weeks....my wife (loves good beer) said last night, watching MNF that she likes my beer better than Blue Moon!!! Nice compliment, coming from her. I asked what she liked better, and she went on to explain..."there is no bitter after taste, and the orange flavor is not overwhelming. I like this kit and would buy it again for summer. It is easy drinking, and a very good beer for everyone to enjoy. | Comment by Aubrey W on Friday 03 April, 2009 I had a similar experience to what the others posted. Doesn't taste much like Blue Moon, but is in style for a wit. Mine tasted a lot like Hoegaarden. | Comment by katrina W on Monday 23 March, 2009 Not exactly like Blue Moon but I like it better. Definitely brewing this one again. | Comment by mark b on Sunday 07 September, 2008 Not like Blue Moon (probably a good thing!), slightly tart and citrusy with mild, nicely balanced hoppiness. More bananna flavor and aroma early, which mellowed out with aging (7 wks @ 70 deg., then all went into the fridge). IMO, better cool than ice cold. May do this again next spring / summer, and perhaps add a little more orange peel and corriander. | Comment by Harold T on Sunday 08 June, 2008 This was good, but was only in the style of Blue moon. I guess I was hoping for something a little closer, and was a little dissapointed. If you like the style you will like it, but if your trying to get close to Blue moon, it won't happen. | | |
